Welcome to my blog!

Hi Everyone! If you dont' know much about me, I've been writing since I was about seven. My very first publication was in The High Hill Herald, my elementary school's newspaper. It was about a German shepherd who went on a plane trip to California (I probably had Disney in mind) as a surpise birthday trip. It was maybe five sentences, if that. But, after that initial success, I never looked back.

You can read my bio on the page, so I won't bore you with the details. But as I send my newest book to my editor and begin my next project, I've been thinking a lot about the creative writing process and craft: how a story gets from my head to the page and what to do with it. So, I'm posting a link here to an interview with my favorite fiction professor, Janet Burroway. She's a brilliant teacher and writer, and I highly encourage you to pick up one of her novels. If you're a writer, I can't say enough good things about her book, "Writing Fiction," which is now in its tenth edition.

In this interview, she mostly discusses her latest novel, Simone in Pieces. But her process in writing it was beyond illuminating. Let me know what you think in the comments.
